Are we a good fit for you?

Are we a good fit for you?

Our focus is on root cause therapy (getting to the core or root of your concerns), familial trauma, and generational trauma. If you’re ready to dive deep, address the core issues, and not just talk around the problem or vent for temporary relief, you may be our ideal client. We specialize in working with individuals who are committed to true healing and transformation. Our target clients include, but are not limited to:

  • Those who recognize the impact of generational trauma and are ready to break the cycle. Individuals and families who resonate with culturally sensitive therapy and may be seeking a therapist who understands their unique cultural experiences and challenges, including historical and generational trauma.
  • Individuals and families experiencing long-standing patterns of dysfunction or unresolved trauma. Clients who are aware of or interested in understanding how trauma can be passed down through generations, and want to explore its impact on their lives and relationships.
  • Individuals Struggling with Familial Trauma: Clients who have experienced significant trauma within their family systems, such as abuse, neglect, or dysfunction, and are seeking to understand and heal from its root causes.
  • Adults Facing Life Transitions: People in major life stages or transitions (such as marriage, parenthood, or aging) who are reflecting on past familial patterns and their impact on their current mental and emotional well-being.
  • Clients Who Prefer Holistic or Root-Cause Approaches: Individuals looking for deep therapeutic work that focuses on uncovering and healing the underlying causes of their emotional and psychological issues, rather than only addressing surface-level symptoms.

Inclusivity in Mental Health

At Newton Behavioral Health and Wellness, we believe that mental health care should be a safe and welcoming space for individuals, regardless of race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, or cultural background.

Why does inclusivity matter?

  • It ensures that clients feel seen, heard, and valued for who they are.
  • It recognizes that each person’s experiences are shaped by their identity and culture.
  • It creates an environment of respect and trust, which is essential for healing.

As a Black female therapist, Denise Newton, LCSW, understands the importance of creating a space where all clients can feel comfortable sharing their stories. Our practice is committed to embracing diversity and fostering connection

Blending Faith with Therapy

For clients seeking to integrate their Christian faith into therapy, we offer a faith-based approach grounded in compassion and understanding.

What does faith-based therapy look like?

  • Exploring how faith influences your values, decisions, and coping strategies.
  • Incorporating spiritual principles into your journey toward healing and growth.
  • Offering a non-judgmental space where your beliefs are honored and respected.

Whether you are navigating personal challenges, spiritual struggles, or life transitions, blending faith with therapy can provide both guidance and strength.

Note: Treatment is individualized based on your needs, goals, and clinical presentation. When appropriate, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) strategies may be incorporated early in treatment to help establish a foundation for our work together. This may include an initial period of approximately six sessions focused on identifying patterns, developing practical skills, and applying strategies between sessions. Progress varies from person to person and is influenced by many factors; however, consistent participation and application of skills outside of therapy can support meaningful and sustainable change over time.
