Denise M. Newton, LCSW
CEO/Lead Psychotherapist

With over 25 years of experience, I’ve dedicated my life to supporting diverse communities across various settings, including churches, behavioral health facilities, public schools, nonprofits, and foster care environments. My mission is to create meaningful connections through warmth, compassion, and understanding, helping individuals achieve personal growth and healing.

As a Black woman therapist who identifies as cisgender, heterosexual, and Christian, my identity is central to the work I do. Grounded in my Christian faith, I strive to create a welcoming space where diversity and inclusivity are embraced, and everyone feels valued and respected.

Empowerment Through Root-Cause Healing: A Path to Lasting Change

I work with individuals from all walks of life, honoring their unique backgrounds and experiences, including those from diverse sexual orientations and identities. I aim to create a safe space where you feel supported in exploring your experiences and emotions, while also empowering you to take actionable steps toward growth and resolution. My approach is:

  • Collaborative and personalized, tailored to meet your specific needs.
  • A space where emotions—whether laughter or tears—are welcomed and valued.
  • Centered on honesty, respect, and accountability, to support your growth and healing journey.

In our sessions, your voice matters most. I encourage you to bring your thoughts, questions, and dedication as we work together toward your goals. We work on addressing the root causes of challenges to facilitate deep, lasting healing.

Rather than staying in a place of blame or projection, I work with clients to identify what they can control, establish healthy boundaries, and cultivate tools to navigate life more effectively. This isn’t about dismissing your pain or experiences—they’re valid and deserve to be honored—but about helping you move toward a place of empowerment and self-agency.

Ready for Meaningful Change?

If you’re looking for compassionate, thoughtful support as you navigate life’s challenges and work toward meaningful change, we’re here to help. Complete our New Client Inquiry Form to explore whether Newton Behavioral Health and Wellness is the right fit for your needs and take your next step toward greater well-being and lasting change.

Note: Treatment is individualized based on your needs, goals, and clinical presentation. When appropriate, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) strategies may be incorporated early in treatment to help establish a foundation for our work together. This may include an initial period of approximately six sessions focused on identifying patterns, developing practical skills, and applying strategies between sessions. Progress varies from person to person and is influenced by many factors; however, consistent participation and application of skills outside of therapy can support meaningful and sustainable change over time.
